After arrival to Bled and exploring the town a little bit, we drive to Bohinj to take a cable car to the Vogel plateau. The high-mountain plateau offers a panoramic view of the central Julian Alps and Lake Bohinj below. In winter, there is a popular ski resort there, but in summer, it is full of nice hiking trails we will explore a little for a warm-up introduction to your walking holidays.
The early morning will start with an optional sunrise hike to the Ojstrica viewing point above Lake Bled. For those eager to sacrifice some hours of their sleep, this will be an unforgettable experience with an iconic photo of the lake to remember it by. After that, we will drive to Bohinj again on one of the most beautiful easy hikes in the area, the hike through the Voje Valley. It first leads you by pools and cascades of the Mostnica Gorge, where you should keep an eye out for the “elephant rock”. Continue your way past pastures with traditional dwellings to get to the Mostnica Waterfall, located at the foot of the high mountains. After the return back, you’ll get a chill afternoon on the beach of Lake Bohinj.
The third day begins with a visit to the most popular attraction around Bled, the Vintgar Gorge. Carved by the Radovna river amidst the glorious vertical walls of surrounding hills, it is an unmissable sight for its magical waterfalls, pools and rapids. It’s hard to beat that beauty, but try we will. From the intimate beauty of the Gorge, we’ll drive further to reach the awe-inspiring landscape of the Triglav Valleys. We’ll stop for a few photos in the valley of Krma and continue our way to the epic Peričnik Waterfall in the Vrata Valley. After taking a photo behind the waterfall, we’ll hike our way along the Triglavska Bistrica river to the top of the valley. There, a kilometre high Triglav north face will give you a sense of how small we are compared to nature.
All good things come to an end. Relax and enjoy a bit of free time at Lake Bled before heading back to Ljubljana.
