Ljubljana Women Of Letters Walking Tour (private Or Small Group)

This was without a doubt one of the most interesting tours our family has been on. Our guide was so insightful and explained the women's writing and beliefs with so much grace, giving them the recognition they deserve as artists and activists! We would 100% book another and would love to thank our guide, Nika, for such a wonderful tour around Ljubljana.

Was worth every step. Nika is an excellent guide. Her english is enviable good, she is entertaining, interesting and very well prepared.

Our knowledgeable tour guide Pia shared an intriguing tale of unjustly forgotten or purposefully ignored heroines of the local literary landscape, punctuating it with mentions of established authors and historical circumstance for our orientation, but spending most time on fascinating and touching anecdotes from the lives of accomplished women whose names have not been canonized as their male contemporaries' have been. These are the stories one still rarely encounters in school, museums, and the media, and they leave a bittersweet impression; one realises not enough has truly changed in terms of power dynamics, but also feels empowered by these intelligent, determined, eccentric, courageous, visionary, outspoken authors who went against the grain - and their often timeless narratives, which provide a firm structure to build on for those yet to come. Time wonderfully spent!

The tour was very well done - I've learned about several important female figures I didn't know before and expanded my knowledge about those that I've already heard of. The tour guide created a compelling story, connecting factual information with current topics and places that I've known all my life but - as it turned out - not known that well at all. Looking forward to other tours!
